“We have to recognize that where risks exist, the state must manage them rather than simply leave everything to the market,” said Oleksiy Movchan, Member of Parliament and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, during a discussion on investment screening.
On September 23, ESCU held an expert dialogue, “Foreign Investment Screening in Ukraine: What Businesses Should Prepare For,” and presented its research on Ukraine’s future investment screening system.
Together with representatives of government, business, and the expert community, participants discussed which investments should be subject to screening, how national security risks should be assessed, and how the procedure can remain predictable for bona fide investors.
The discussion also featured Sergiy Honcharov, CEO of the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries (NAUDI); Oleksandr Aleksyeyenko, Co-Chair of the Competition Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ACC); Tetiana Korotka, Deputy Business Ombudsman of Ukraine; and Inna Bohatykh, Head of Legal & Compliance at Truman.
