Russia Imported Indian Explosives and Chinese Engines as “Refrigerators” — ESCU Monitoring #27

🇨🇳 What was labeled as Chinese “industrial refrigeration units” turned out to be engines for Russian kamikaze drones, according to Reuters, citing shipping documents and sources in European intelligence. The mislabeled components were shipped to evade Western export controls. The end user was Russia’s Kupol plant, which has contracted to produce over 6,000 Garpiya-A1 long-range drones in 2025. These drones are being deployed to strike civilian and military targets deep inside Ukrainian territory — around 500 are used each month, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.

🇮🇳 Russia also received Indian-made explosives worth $1.4 million — despite repeated U.S. warnings. Indian firm Ideal Detonators exported two shipments of HMX (octogen), a powerful high-velocity explosive designed for maximum lethality. HMX is commonly used in missile warheads, torpedoes, solid rocket propellants, and advanced munitions. The U.S. has designated HMX as “critical to Russia’s war effort” and warned that companies aiding Moscow’s military production risk secondary sanctions.
